We’re readvertising the second PhD project in the PETRARCH project – deadline Friday 12th of April.. see here!

The second PhD project associated with the PETRARCH project is now open for applications, with a deadline of the 14th of February.

You can take a look at the project description here. This student’s role will be to look in detail at the drivers of the Cretaceous Ocean Anoxic Events, and in particular to investigate how the ocean’s biological pump was changing in the run up to ocean anoxic events.

The project is open to applications from UK and international students, and comes with ample funds for conference travel and training.

PETRARCH has officially started, and we’re looking for the first of two funded PhD students. The first student should start in September 2023, and their PhD will be on the reconstruction of atmospheric CO2 throughout the late Cretaceous using boron isotopes. There will be opportunities for field work, training in foraminiferal taxonomy at the Smithsonian Institution, funds for conferences and summer schools.

The PETRARCH Project will be starting on the 1st of February 2023. We’re already going to be looking for our first PETRARCH Team Member, a Research Technician who will help us establish and maintain the methods needed for our project.
